Chủ nghĩa cơ yếu

Chủ nghĩa cơ yếu (fundamentalism) đề cập đến niềm tin nghiêm ngặt, trung thành tuyệt đối với những nguyên tắc cơ bản, trong thực tế thường nói đến tôn giáo, hay ý thức hệ chính trị. Nhìn rộng ra, Chủ nghĩa cơ yếu thường chống lại những đổi mới để thích hợp với thời thế và đòi hỏi quay trở về nguồn gốc của một tôn giáo, hay ý thức hệ nào đó, nếu cần thì phải dùng những biện pháp quá khích và một phần cũng không bao dung để đạt được mục đích. Những chỉ trích về chủ nghĩa cơ yếu cũng bao gồm các nhóm xã hội hay chính trị, mà đặt nặng ý thức hệ lên cao và tranh đấu để đạt được vị trí thống trị trong xã hội.
